Abstract

The preceding chapters have provided an adequate background in both holography and acoustics. We can now turn to the specific application of holography to the visualization of acoustical fields. We restrict our discussion for the most part to longitudinal waves, although our results are applicable to shear waves. We stress that one or the other be used, although there are certain circumstances under which both may be present. We consider this to be unfortunate in that interfering images may result.
