Abstract
Imaging of the pancreas by any means currently available, e.g. angiography, radionuclide imaging or transduodenal pancreatography, is either laborious or provides images that are of limited usefulness. The need for early diagnosis of the complications of pancreatitis makes a simple, non-traumatic means of demonstrating and of assessing the pancreas desirable. Therefore, an assessment of ultrasonic imaging of the pancreas was undertaken to determine the most useful technique for imaging the pancreas and to determine its place in the management of patients with pancreatitis.
