Biological Basis for Ultrasonic Enhancement of Radiosensitivity

Although studies on ultrasonic enhancement of radiosensitivity of neoplasms in si tu have been inconclusive to date, in vitro tests concerning combined x-ray and ultrasonic treatment indicate a benefically additive response. It is the purpose of this paper to relate the demonstrated biological action of medium intensity ultrasound in neoplastic cells in vitro to its possible use as a radiobiologic ad juvant.
