Abstract

Immunotherapy of cancer is likely to be most efficacious for the elimination of disseminated deposits of tumor cells remaining after the surgical removal of a primary solid tumor, or after a chemotherapeutically-induced remission of leukemia. It is, therefore, important to develop procedures for strengthening systemic immunity, specifically or nonspecifically, and to understand the mechanisms of tumor-cell destruction at favored sites of metastasis, such as the lung or the liver.
