The Term Analysis of Atomic Spectra: Present Status and Remaining Problems

Abstract

The general structure of atomic spectra in the different groups of the periodic table is reviewed in the framework of isoelectronic sequences, and the present state of the analysis in indicated for sequences of 3- to 46-electron systems. A list of references to recent term analyses has been compiled for the elements from Z=2(He) to 28(Ni).
