Control of Metabolic Processes by cAMP-Dependent Protein Phosphorylation

  • Chapter
Eukaryotic Cell Function and Growth

Abstract

Protein phosphorylation and dephosphorylation are catalyzed by protein kinases and phosphoprotein phosphatases according to the following general equation:

$$\Pr otein\underset{{_{Phosphatase}^{Phosphoprotein}}}{\overset{{\Pr oteinKinaese,ATP}}{\longleftrightarrow}}\Pr otein - P$$
