Abstract
Assessment of the abdominal aorta utilizing conventional B-mode ultrasound with static format display provides, in nearly all cases, delineation of aneurysmal pathology. The advent of ultrasonic real-time imaging details aortic dimensions, spatial relationship, displacement, intravascular echoes, and additionally demonstrates the aorta throughout the cardiac cycle. The significant advantage to real-time imaging is the ability to monitor the aorta continuously through the diastolic and systolic intervals.
