Abstract
Massive doses of vitamin D3 or of 25 hydroxyvitamin-D3 (250H-D3) are necessary to raise the serum calcium of patients with hypoparathyroidism (1). Recent data obtained by Kooch and al. (2) have indicated an impaired conversion of 25OH-D3 into lα, 25 dihydro xyvitamin-D3 (lα, 25(OH)2-D3) in patients with hypoparathyroidism and pseudohypoparathyroidism. On the basis of the above data we have attempted to test the therapeutic effect of physiologic doses of lα-hydroxyvitamin-D3 (lα-0H-D3) in 2 patients with post-surgical hypoparathyroidism.
