Abstract
In recurrent stone formers, the main diagnostic problem is to discriminate between primary hyperparathyroidism (1°HPT) and idiopathic hypercalciuria (IHC).Therefore, several results of the clinical chemistry laboratory are to be evaluated. Serum tests ordered routinely in stone patients are calcium (Ca), phosphate (PO4), creatinine (Cr), Chloride (CI), total protein (TP) and uric acid (UA) and in urine (24 h collection) Ca, PO., Cr, sodium (Na) and UA. From these basal values (concentrations) and from body weight and height, more meaningful diagnostic information can be obtained by use of the following formulas, which were collected from the literature.
