Case History of a Urinary Stone

  • Chapter
Urolithiasis Research

Abstract

Stress situations are repeatedly given in the literature as causes for the formation of urinary stones (Butt, 1956;Cockett et al., 1962;Gasser et al., 1973; Schneider, 1974). However, an exact chain of events from such a situation to the actual appearance of the resulting stone has never been traced. In 1958 Gasser and Preisinger first determined the growth rate of a surgically removed kidney stone. After the struvite-apatite stone had begun to grow, the patient had received Rubia for a specific time period which had clearly been registered in the growth layers. The events described below show for the first time that the determination of the full and exact history of a urinary stone is possible.
