Abstract

Mr. Chairman, at the beginning of this afternoon’s symposium you said you were primarily interested in hearing about methods of myocardial preservation that were applicable to most operative situations. I would like to describe a method of selective cardiac hypothermia without coronary perfusion which fulfils this criterion in that we use it for all open heart operations that are judged to require more than 15 minutes aortic cross-clamping.
