Low Temperature Thermal Conductivity of (NO3)2Ba, (NO3)2Sr and (NO3)2Pb Single Crystals

  • Chapter
Phonon Scattering in Solids

Abstract

In view to investigate the evolution of phonon-phonon interaction in this serie of isomorphous compounds, where anharmonicity is the largest for the Pb nitrate [1], the thermal conductivity K of single crystals has been measured between 1.5 and 300 K (from about ө/60 to 2 ө).The crystallographic cell of these cubic crystals contains 36 atoms [2], so that several low-lying optic modes may contribute to the heat flow.
