Part of the Publications of the Netherlands Interuniversity Demographic Institute (N.I.D.I.) and the Population and Family Study Centre (C.B.G.S.) book series (NIDI, volume 2)

For the investigation of fertility regulation in a given country, something should be known about its people’s ideas and behaviour with respect to the norm for family size. How large a family do couples expect? What family size is considered ideal or desirable? It is known that Belgium is no longer one of the countries in which natality reaches high peaks, but is one of several that are completing a phase of demographic transition.
