Abstract

Inosine triphosphate (ITP) is a nucleotide which is not usually thought of as occuring in cells. However, beginning with the studies of Vanderheiden in 1965 (1), several investigators have shown that ITP can accumulate in human erythrocytes. The extent of erythrocyte ITP accumulation has appeared to vary from individual to individual, and also with the particular experimental conditions used by each investigator.
