Summary
A gas chromatographic-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) technique is described for the detection and identification of anabolic steroid drugs in urine samples of athletes competing in major international events.
The metabolism of some commonly used drugs, in particular, Dianabol (17α-methyl-1,4-androstadien-17ß-o1-3-one), Stanazolol (17α-methyl-5α-androstan-17ß-o1-[ 3,2-c ]-pyrazole), Nilevar (17α-ethyl-4-estren-17ß-o1-3-one), Orabolin (17α-ethyl-4-estren-17ß-o1), Durabolin (4-estren-17ß-o1-3-one phenylpropionate) have been studied. The approach to processing the data from the GC-MS analysis does not preclude the detection of other additional anabolic steroid drugs.
