Abstract

The afterimage method has the advantage that it gives us information about any movement of the line of sight and about the position change of each single retina. But because it is indeed not exact enough to answer specific questions which can be asked in the interest of the theory of binocular vision, I have performed my investigations with another method which gives very exact results where the experiments with afterimages are inadequate. I have already described this in its basic outlines (18) and simultaneously indicated small deviations from Listing’s Law which I found with it. Later Volkmann and Helmholtz (16) also used this method.
