Abstract

In the foregoing analysis we have presented the major problems which cities today face, and have outlined the variety of approaches which are employed to improve the urban environment. In addition, we have discussed particular situations within the Member States which have tended to block or impede successful application of improvement efforts, and also those aspects of law, administration and finance which have led to viable, well-balanced and enjoyable city centres.
