Abstract
International trade theories are not the main concern of this study. It is nevertheless worthwhile to briefly survey some of the existing theories in order to determine to what extent they are relevant for our investigation of the foreign trade of developing countries. While doing so it should be kept in mind that the present study deals with (a) foreign trade of, and, in particular, among developing countries, and (b) the interrelationships between such trade and the pattern of economic development in the various countries.
