Abstract
Until now, this book focused primarily on research and treatment with inpatient alcoholics in a state hospital setting. That population and setting, however, contrasts markedly with other clinical treatment settings (e.g., outpatient treatment and private practice). Obviously, each clinical setting presents different challenges, constraints, and opportunities. In this chapter, we consider how individualized behavioral treatment (IBT) of alcohol problems can be used in outpatient and private practice settings.
