Abstract

Renal transplantation is a drastic form of treatment for the life threatening disorder of end-stage renal disease. With this treatment many patients have long term satisfactory renal function and good health and achieve satisfactory rehabilitation. As with other types of radical treatment there is a price to be paid in the form of untoward effects. In this chapter we shall consider the infections and malignancies that complicate transplantation, and complications that resuh from renal transplant surgery or may require surgical correction.
