Synaptic Plasticity

  • Chapter
The Chemistry of Behavior

Abstract

The functional reorganization of neuronal networks likely involves two processes. One, a morphological restructuring of the neurons and their connections, will be explored in the succeeding chapter. The other process has been touched upon previously. It is an alteration in the efficacy of existing synaptic connections as the result of enduring changes in various synaptic events.
