Abstract
The objective of this symposium was to examine several areas associated with women’s increased participation in the world of work: contributions and progress; physical, mental, and economic well-being; socioeconomic factors; and role integration and revision. In comparing the research reported on these topics, a commonality across countries is revealed which indicates that women throughout the world face the same fundamental problems regardless of differences in status, education, utilization, and wage scale. Many solutions also are presented in this volume, and the final issue to be addressed is to summarize these into a few action-oriented recommendations. This final comment, therefore, endeavors to highlight the work that still has to be accomplished in our efforts to realize the “exciting possibility of creating a much improved society.”
