Mutagenicity of Selected Chemicals in Mammalian in Vitro Cytogenetic Systems

  • Chapter
Comparative Chemical Mutagenesis

Abstract

The study of structural chromosome aberrations in mammalian cells grown in tissue culture offers the opportunity of observing directly the mutagenic effects of various agents without the need of maintaining an animal colony. A myriad of cell lines exists offering the investigator a wide choice of mammalian species, and in many instances a variety of karyological types within a species, e.g., unique marker chromosomes.
