Crystal Structures and Phase Relationships within Ternary Systems: Rare Earth Metal-Noble Metal-Boron

  • Peter Rogl

Abstract

Borides with a ratio boron/metal≈2 are classified as nettype borides, due to the characteristic formation of two dimensional rigid boron networks (1, 2). Whereas most boron rich regions of ternary transition metal-boron systems have been characterized, there is still considerable interest in the combinations: rare earth metal-noble metal-boron.
