Abstract

The ocular manifestations of dietary toxins considered here are confined to those resulting from the ingestion of substances that are not nutrients. Excessive intake of some carbohydrates, lipids, elements, and vitamin A may give rise to ocular disturbances and these are dealt with elsewhere. Some toxins in animal feeds damage the eye. Among these are bracken fern (Pteris aquilina), male fern (Felix mas) and various Leguminosae. These conditions have been reviewed recently (McLaren, 1980).
