Abstract
Behavioral-ecology represents a perspective on people and their environments, one that guides theory, research, and practice in the behavioral sciences. It is an evolving orientation that is characterized by a general set of assumptions, principles, and values, rather than a single theory or set of specific methods. In this volume we develop the behavioral-ecological perspective as a conceptual framework for community mental health. The framework is offered to guide the development of a knowledge base for community mental health interventions.
