Abstract
The particular conditions during which high air pollution levels are observed can be simulated by an appropriate atmospheric boundary-layer model (PBL) coupled with a diffusion model. The atmospheric dispersion is described here by the product of the cross-wind and vertical diffusions. This is evaluated by a numerical 2-dimension model taking into account sedimentation, deposition and/or other interactions with the atmospheric environment. The numerical solution of this 2D-model is obtained by finite difference technique, the wind and vertical diffusion coefficient being provided by the PBL-model or a PBL-parameterisation scheme.
