Abstract
Clinical depression appears to be an eminently treatable disorder. Unlike habit disorders or addictions, there is rarely a pervasive, reinforcing aspect with which to struggle. Unlike some other more chronic disorders, such as retardation or process schizophrenia, relatively prolonged periods of adequate to good premorbid adjustment are the rule, not the exception. Often, it is necessary only to get the client to do what he or she used to do in order to facilitate recovery.
