Abstract

Fall, 1978. It’s the first Friday of the new school year, and the bell will be signaling “weekend” in twenty minutes. Mrs. Simpson quiets her fourth-grade class. “I want to remind you all that next Monday we’ll be welcoming someone new into our room… Her name is Sarah and she’s very, very special… Sarah’s in a wheelchair… but she’s just like you… and just like me… I’m sure we’ll all get along just fine.”
