Overview
-
Transfer of the newly acquired skills to the client’s natural environment is a critical concern. Eight strategies for promoting transfer are identified.
-
Four of the strategies center around the training sessions. They are: (1) train effective behaviors; (2) make training realistic; (3) train strategy; and (4) extend practice.
-
The other four strategies are centered in the client’s natural envi- ronment or following the initial training sessions. They are: (1) use graded homework assignments; (2) involve others; (3) develop self-management skills; and (4) provide follow-up or booster sessions.
