Abstract

Coupling coefficients were defined in the previous chapter. They give the construction of many-particle states of given transformation properties from products of fewer particle states. They also give the matrix elements of operators of known transformation properties. The latter result is the Wigner-Eckart theorem and is proved in the following chapter. This chapter is concerned with the algebraic properties of coupling coefficients.
