Abstract

The NA4 spectrometer is characterized by its large luminosity due to a target lenght of 40 m, and by its good acceptance to muons produced at large momentum transfers. At beam energies of 280 Gev/c, the toroidal magnetic field configuration confines deep inelastic events inside the iron up to Q2 = 270 (GeV/c)2, which allows us to cover a Q2 range five times larger than previous experiments.
