Abstract
Muonium is the hydrogen-like atom consisting of a positive muon and an electron. From the viewpoint of elementary particle physics and fundamental atomic physics, the motivations for studying muonium are to determine the properties of the muon and to measure the muon-electron interaction in this bound atomic state. Indeed muonium provides an ideal simple system for testing modern muon electrodynamics and for searching for effects of weak, strong or unknown interactions on the electron-muon bound state.
