Abstract

Twenty-three patients with multiple, recurrent bladder cancer grade I–II, category T1 were treated with regular intravesical instillation of Ethoglucid (EpodylR). In six of the patients the treatment had to be withdrawn because of severe and/or repeated cystitis. The therapeutic schedule has been completed or continued in 17 patients. In 16 patients the tumours were eradicated. Five of these patients continued the treatment on a prophylactic basis and were still without recurrence after 15–60 months. Myelosuppression was not observed but cystitis was a serious problem frequently jeopardizing the therapy.
