Abstract
Frequent recurrences of malignant tumours of the bladder after transurethral resection or partial cystectomy have led to the use of complementary irradiation. In small cancers, showing early infiltration of the bladder wall, many attempts have been made to replace external by interstitial irradiation, which delivers a high radiation dosage to the pathological area but does not damage the whole bladder.
