Sentence Structure in Chimpanzee Communication

Abstract

There are now two experiments on teaching chimpanzees a human language that have been in some sense successful (Gardner & Gardner 1971; Premack 1971b). It is an appropriate time to review these experiments in an attempt to determine what they have demonstrated.
