Abstract
Experiments of the third generation in electron scattering and in photoionization are discussed. They aim at a complete determination of the parameters (moduli and phases) by which theory describes these processes. First an electron triple-scattering experiment is described where the change of electron spin polarization due to scattering is observed. Second, an experimental result is given on spin polarization of photoelectrons produced from an unpolarized target by unpolarized light. Finally it is shown that the statement “number of necessary experiments equals number of independent parameters” is misleading.
