Energy and Angular Momentum Exchanges between Two Electrons in a Coulomb Field

  • Chapter
Coherence and Correlation in Atomic Collisions

Abstract

A review is presented of recent studies on the phenomenon of “postcollision interaction” (PCI), carried out in our institute. Particular attention is paid to the experimental investigation of orbital angular momentum exchanges and spin effects in the PCI process. A theory is worked out, which is based on the optical-potential method of Feshbach, and which also accounts for postcollisional exchanges of orbital angular momentum.
