Computers have been applied to all aspects of mass spectrometry from control of the instrument and acquisition of data to automated compound identification. This chapter will focus on the factors to be considered in interfacing a computer to a mass spectrometer and in designing a system for interactive data storage and display, and will touch on some of the other applications of computer technology.
