Abstract
Recently, various components of the nucleon-nucleus optical potential (NNOP) have been calculated by Jeukenne et al.(1) using the nuclear matter approach. This calculation uses Reid’s nucleon-nucleon potential and has only one parameter to improve over the local density approximation (LDA). This calculated potential has been tested(2) against elastic scattering data and the better agreement with experimental results was obtained by putting overall normalizing parameters in the real and the imaginary parts. As the fast neutron capture process through particle-vibration coupling is quite sensitive,(3,4) to the isovector part of the NNOP, the present work tests the isovector component of the microscopic calculation more critically.
