Abstract

Polarized beams are applied to studies of fundamental symmetries and of the interaction between neutrons and nuclei. By combining the techniques of polarized beams, polarized targets and gamma-ray spectroscopy many spins can be assigned to final states. For odd A target nuclei the two spins in the s-wave capture state interfere and this interference is related to the mechanism of neutron capture.
