Use of Configurational Analysis in Teaching

Abstract

The kind of analysis described for the illustration case in this text is too time-consuming for a typical case conference during training. The preparation and presentation need not always employ this level of analysis. In a training situation, one can more quickly cover a broad overview and then deal specifically and at length with one issue and one or more steps of configurational analysis. The overview indicates the particular facet of explanation to be explored and presents an idea of how it articulates with other levels of explanation, even when these levels are not explicated.
