Determinants of Housing Preference in a Small Town

  • Chapter
Design for Communality and Privacy

Abstract

In the present study an attempt was made to determine preferences for certain residential areas in a small Dutch town and to compare these preferences with the subject’s appraisals of various physical and social aspects of these areas. Dutch residential areas are suburban districts which, especially in modernized towns, form real architectural units. While they differ among themselves, each of them is homogeneous as far as spatial design, type of housing, and provision for green zones are concerned.
