Abstract
This paper dicusses two aspects of shape features in geometric modeling. Firstly, it outlines research carried out at the University of Cambridge on the recognition of shape features from a geometric model for the purpose of part classification and coding. Secondly, some description is given of work currently in progress on the representation of shape features in the BUILD-4 geometric modeler.
