Every winter quarter, I participate, together with Jack Cooper and John Shell, in teaching a course at the University of California at San Francisco (USCF) entitled “Pharmaceutical Chemistry 208, Survey of Pharmaceutics.” At the beginning of the course, I usually give a history of the field. I particularly enjoy this because I have known all of the principals personally. I had always told the students what a unique opportunity they have since they can meet, listen to and consult with one of those principals, Professor Sidney Riegelman.
