Abstract

They confused animal soon attracts malevolent attention from its fellows. Unusual activity or bizarre behaviour alert others to its vulnerability to attack. Nature gives rapid and ruthless short shrift to such animals. When the highest level of the nervous system cannot perceive and respond to the world effectively survival is in peril. Modern day human society hopefully deals with such problems in a more compassionate and understanding manner — though it is clear. that in times gone by some confused elderly people received very brutal treatment indeed. Nowadays it is increasingly appreciated that confused elderly people need the closest scrutiny by health care professionals, and most authorities agree that the facilities of a general hospital are necessary for this.
