Summary

Chromosome analysis was carried out on peripheral blood lymphocytes from 12 women at 0, 1, and 4 weeks. Two women were also consecutively sampled for 2 years. The mean rate for chromatid breaks was 3.0% range 0–13 and for gaps 8.7% range 2–21.

The intra-individual fluctuations were as great as the inter-individual variations. The increases in the aberration yield could not be correlated with the phase of the menstrual cycle, the mitotic index or with any clinically manifest infection.
