Abstract
Transition from one role to another is a common phenomenon in the modern world. With a rising frequency of divorce, rapidly changing job conditions, and unstable living circumstances an individual may need to take on new roles quite often. Role theory implies that strain occurs in connection with role transition (e.g., Burr, 1972).
