Abstract
Our experience with the ST. JUDE MEDICAL® prosthetic valve was initiated in late 1978 because of our increasing concerns over the significant incidence of thromboembolic events and valve thrombosis of the BJÖRK-SHILEY® valve and of degenerative, component failure with the porcine valve, necessitating reoperation.
