Cloning of the DNA of Alphaherpesvirinae

  • Chapter
Recombinant DNA Research and Viruses

Part of the book series: Developments in Molecular Virology ((DMVI,volume 5))

Summary

DNA fragments of herpes simplex virus types 1 and 2, varicella-zoster virus and Pseudorabies virus were cloned in bacterial plasmids either by direct ligation or by annealing via shoft homopolymer tracts. The clones have been used to investigate specific structural and functional aspects of these herpesvirus genomes.
